furball busts loose
So, there’s a project that I’ve had in mind to do for years and years that I’ve finally decided to tackle. I’m going to remake my first, uh, “zine”?
When I was a kid I put together this baffling little Tiny Toons fan fiction called Furball Busts Loose which was I’m sure, is named after the Tiny Toons Super Nintendo game Buster Busts Loose and is made up of a bunch of images that are clearly traced out of a colouring book tied together by a loose, somewhat nonsensical story that I came up with. The whole thing is done with pencil crayons on lined paper and taped together with boxing tape.
It’s… kind of wonderful?
The idea is to take this and turn it into a small children’s book with proper illustrations done to the best of my ability today while using the story I wrote as a kid to the letter, weird spelling mistakes and all. I’ll be making a bunch of changes because I don’t really want to draw a Tiny Toons children’s book per se and kinda just wanna run with the weirdness of what kid Jason came up with.
A big reason for jumping into this project is to apply everything I know about comics, sequential storytelling and illustration into trying to make a real, bonafide children’s book to use as a portfolio piece. So, to that end I’m planning on sharing my process as I work my way through the project!
So! More to come!
